Close to 500 participants gathered to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of General Miguel Malvar. In simple commemoration, a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Fr. Antonio Ala was held. This was followed by flag raising ceremonies and a short program where Mayor Carlito de la Peña Reyes thanked all those who joined in the celebration and also made some very important announcements. Groups of people coming from both the government and private sectors within the municipality offered wreaths to the statue of General Malvar. The first wreath offered was from President Benigno Aquino III. Mayor Reyes together with the municipal officials and employees from the executive branch followed. Barangay officials and barangay volunteers and peoples organizations were also present and also offered wreaths. Non government organizations, the private sectors, the business sectors, school teachers and students made the occasion livelier. Music was provided by the Batangas State University brass band.
Everyone was in high spirits and cheery as they brought their wreaths, making it a happy and joyful gathering of Malvareños who believed in the bravery and heroism of General Miguel Malvar.
