The delegation from Malvar, Batangas, Philippines, a city that signed an MOU for the foreign seasonal workers' program, visited Cheongsong-Gun for four nights and five days.
The Mayor of Malvar, a Philippine Local Government that signed the MOU for the foreign seasonal workers program of the Ministry of Justice, visits the Cheongsong Apple Festival to greet them.
Mayor of Malvar, Philippines, Cristeta Reyes, and a group of companions visited Cheongsong-gun for 5 days and 4 nights from the 31st of October.
The visit by Malvar (5 people) is aimed at strengthening the friendship between the two local governments and discussing the efficient operation of the foreign seasonal workers program in the future.
The delegation directly visited the farms where seasonal workers were working, inspected the working environment, encouraged them, and communicated directly with the farm owners. They also had time to interact with the workers through the 'Meeting Day with Seasonal Workers' event.
In particular, they visited the 17th Cheongsong Apple Festival, a representative festival in Korea, to see the excellence of Cheongsong apples, and visited local apple farms and the Cheongsong Apple Distribution Center to observe advanced apple cultivation methods and distribution processes.
Meanwhile, Cheongsong-gun and Malvar signed an MOU in May last year and have sent 175 workers to date, with 82 workers currently working on 29 farms.
Cheongsong County Mayor Kyung-Hee Yoon said, “The seasonal worker program is a great help to farmers as they face difficulties due to labor shortages caused by the aging and decreasing population. We welcome Malvar’s visit to Cheongsong and hope for a good relationship that will continue to coexist and develop.”
